ADAPT A TEXT UNIT TO BE MORE COMMUNICATIVE SO IT SOLVES THE PROBLEM OBSERVED IN ENGLISH CLASS

COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING

ESTABLISH THE ADAPTABILITY OF A TEXT UNIT,  BETWEEN SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING FROM THE POINT OF CLT AS A METHOD.

Generally the English teacher had been working with the editor guidelines to guarantee the English learning; sometimes the textbooks include the method to teach.  Most of the English teachers take more time explaining the process of the exercises than the vocabulary or grammar rules.

In my professional practice, I take a couple of weeks to explain the textbooks and the process to develop the units to try to finish the school year and the books successfully, but the problems begin with the parents' or family's input in the process of learning, and the work grows up fast because our number of students increases, some in the classroom and others in the home.

I think, it is important to always define an adaptability system between the textbooks and the editor guidelines versus the reality of our learners. Almost all private schools and high schools comprehend the importance of studying English as a second language, and some of them take courses in particular institutions to better their skills. The public schools and high schools are totally different. The students and their families do not give the necessary importance.

COMPARE SOME METHODS, METHODOLOGIES, AND APPROACHES VERSUS CLT TO SOLVE PROBLEMS IN LEARNING A SECOND LANGUAGE

Considering that, as a method is a way of teaching with prescribed objectives and guidelines, and the teacher has little or no leeway when it comes to implementation. In addition, an approach is the route of teaching whose principles can be applied in many different ways.

However, communicative language teaching (CLT) as a method versus the communicative approach (CA) as support could guarantee the results of good learning in our Ecuadorian environment.

The big frustration of the learners and their families is always learning grammar rules and repeating them and the vocabulary many times until they write and pronounce them correctly, but they don't have time to try to express themselves.

Communicative language teaching as a method proposes interesting activities to increase communication like this:

Role play, interviews, group work, information gaps, opinion sharing, and scavenger hunts.

PROPOSE SOLUTION ABOUT COMMUNICATIVE PROBLEMS IN THE TEXT UNIT

In this magic process of teaching, the teacher can add some digital resources, like websites or apps, to practice the communicative process and get better results.

Definitely, it is necessary to adapt some cultural topics to our reality only for better comprehension at the beginning of the process of learning a second language. Considering that most of the students in private schools type “A,” their parents try to study abroad.
